In the second round of projects, each of the groups did a fantastic presentation on either one of the following topics: Gender Inequality, Infrastructure, and Climate Change. They took the liberty to go into depth explaining each detail about these social issues to truly inform the audience by opening their eyes to these issues and possibly, changing their point of view. These worldwide problems are issues that have been present in our day-to-day lives for over hundreds of years. Over time, each of these social matters has progressed either for the better or worse. For example, gender inequality has come a long way from where we first began and our social status. Infrastructure has progressed greatly over time, due to our advancement in technology to further better our structures and facilities. Lastly, in theory, climate change would only “get better” knowing we have these resources at hand showing where the earth’s health is going, you would safely assume we are attempting to...

A New Round of Presentations          This time around each group was to present on three social issues: Gender Inequality, Infrastructure and Climate Change. These are pressing issues and important things that everyone should be informed about. These three topics affect us all in some way, shape or form. We walk around everyday surrounded by infrastructure, feeling the effects of climate change, and dealing with different forms of gender inequality.   Gender Inequality Let's begin with Group 3, Gender Inequality, which is the group I was assigned to. It was a very personal and important topic for me as a bisexual woman.  Gender Inequality is the social phenomenon in which men and women are not treated equally.  It is, unfortunately, prevalent in many spaces in our society so for the presentation it was broken down into different sections. We chose to talk about gender inequality when talking about the LGBTQIA+ community, sports, workspace, s...

In these presentation the three topics that were presented were focused on global issues that affects our daily lives. The topics that were presented were global warming, infrastructure, and gender inequality. This topics are important to know especially now more than ever since it still plays a crucial role in our well being and environment. Although  technology and social media have instilled many of these topics in our minds they are still people oblivious to these topics.     The long history that gender inequality has had on not only the United States but globally is astonishing. Although gender inequality has been getting progressively less it is still present in todays society. Gender inequality is  Social process by which people are treated differently and disadvantageously, under similar circumstances, on the basis of gender. In contrast to before where woman were not allowed to get jobs, properties, and not vote todays discrimi...

It is affected by women, men, trans, and gender diverse people, children, and families impacting people of all ages and backgrounds. Gender Inequality prevents violence against women and girls. It's essential for economic prosperity in which societies value women and men equally, safer, and healthier.     Many countries seek to support and promote equality among all segments of the population on a permanent basis and work on their participation in political and social life on an equal and just basis. Many members of society are exposed to inequality, such as unequal access to health care and inequality in job opportunities, and it may even reach marginalization and oppression. Group three presented gender inequality and explained many aspects in which there is inequality between individuals. For several decades, the idea spread that women struggled for equality with men at work, and although many women entered the labor market and rose in the job ranks; However, the inferior view of women at work still exists, which has created a hidden battle between the gender at any work they are in.   Most societies associate wise leadership with masculine traits such as; assertiveness and dominance, and thus women leaders are rejected because they violate these standards. Therefo...

Deary past, Optimistic Future! The Second set of presentations in SPC1017 focused on issues facing The United States and the world as a whole. These issues were Gender Inequality, Infrastructure and Global Warming. The topics discussed are of particular importance as the world strives to better the living conditions of everyone.  Two of the topics in particular; gender inequality and global warming have become very relevant in recent decades.  Man vs Woman? Group 3 tackled the topic of gender equality. Gender inequality is discrimination on the basis of sex or gender causing one sex or gender to be routinely privileged or prioritized over another. The origin of gender inequality cannot be pinpointed. It is thought to have happened slowly over time. Early human societies were hunter-gatherers, with typically the males going out to hunt and females and children staying behind to gather from the nearby environment.  In this regard, it was egalitarian. Many hypothesiz...
